Witness ‘Carrie’s Wrath With New Trailer & Stills!

Those desperately awaiting Screen Gems’ modernised re-imagining of Stephen King’s iconic horror novel, CARRIE, only have a couple of months to wait for the release of the supernatural thriller directed by BOYS DON’T CRY’s Kimberly Pierce. Previously adapted into the 1976 classic by Brian DePalma, 2013s effort sees Chloe Grace Moretz as troubled teen Carrie White, a high-school outcast, constantly bullied by her high-school classmates and a traumatic home-life not helped by her devoutly religious mother Margaret (Julianne Moore).

After discovering her new-found telekinetic abilities and a few friends, anyone laughing at their torturous prank on Prom Night are in for a hell of a terrifying time.

The quiet suburb of Chamberlain, Maine is home to the deeply religious and conservative Margaret White (Moore) and her daughter Carrie (Moretz). Carrie is a sweet but meek outcast whom Margaret has sheltered from society. Gym teacher Miss Desjardin (Greer) tries in vain to protect Carrie from local mean girls led by the popular and haughty Chris Hargenson (Portia Doubleday, Youth in Revolt), but only Chris’ best friend, Sue Snell (Gabriella Wilde, The Three Musketeers), regrets their actions. In an effort to make amends, Sue asks her boyfriend, high school heartthrob Tommy Ross (newcomer Ansel Elgort), to take Carrie to prom. Pushed to the limit by her peers at the dance, Carrie unleashes telekinetic havoc.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
