Vin Diesel is currently on the promotion trail for his forthcoming science-fiction sequel RIDDICK. Reprising his star-making role as the hunted antihero with the sight-adjusted optics. However, following the confirmation that he’d had meetings with Marvel and will voice the bizarre character of walking tree Groot in James Gunn’s GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY, all eyes have been focused on how that role will be approached.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Diesel confirmed he was set for altogether different role in Marvel’s Phase III but the fanboy clamour for an official announcement saw the studio believing Groot was a good fit for his gravelly tones. He also lets slip he’ll don the dots for motion-capture and not just lend his unmistakable voice to the extraterrestrial. Still, he seems unsure when and how he’ll fit it into his schedule or even if it’s a done deal. Take a look!
GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY is slated for release 1st August 2014 and co-stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Lee Pace, Benicio Del Toro, Karen Gillan, John C. Reilly, Glenn Close, Djimon Hounsou and Peter Serafinowicz.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
