Syfy have commissioned a pilot which would see Terry Gilliam’s 1995 film TWELVE MONKEYS turned into a television series. The pilot has been written by Nikita and Terra Nova scribes Terry Metals and Travis Ticket and follows closely to the story of the film.
The film starred Bruce Willis and Brad Pitt and was itself a remake of French film LA JETTE. Split between present day and the future, the plot saw Willie’s character travel through time to prevent a deadly virus from spreading.
Production is set to start as early as November. Gilliam will not be involved in the project and no cast have been announced yet. If Syfy are pleased with the initial pilot then we can expect to see it on our screens at some point next year.
