A few days ago we were given a rather short, yet exciting teaser trailer for Neil Burger’s adaptation Veronica Roth’s hugely popular Young Adult novel, DIVERGENT. I’d spoken before about the lacklustre footage shown at San Diego Comic Con, so hopefully we’re having the ‘good stuff’ kept until the actual film’s release. What about you faithful fans out there? Fingers crossed it succeeds where the likes of BEAUTIFUL CREATURES and THE HOST failed.
Well, you can now judge for yourself as the first full trailer has arrived from the action-thriller centred on a future Earth, in a society where people are divided into distinct factions based on their personalities. However, Tris Prior is warned she is ‘different’ (I’m not clued up but that suggests she has no personality – a lot like that Magician fella Dynamo) and will never fit into any one group but she soon becomes aware of a conspiracy to destroy all Divergents, and must find out what makes being one of them so dangerous before it’s too late. Also check out the infograph below!
DIVERGENT stars Shailene Woodley, Kate Winslet, Theo James, Miles Teller, Jai Courtney, Ashley Judd, Tony Goldwyn, Ray Stevenson, Zoe Kravitz, Maggie Q, Mekhi Phifer, Ansel Elgort, Christian Madsen, Ben Lloyd-Hughes, Ben Lamb, and Amy Newbold. It opens in cinemas 21st March 2014.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
