There’s few better than Alan Rickman for many things and here he’s leading CBGB as Hilly Kristal, a struggling (might be an understatement) pub/club owner who wanted to bring country, bluegrass and blues to the downtown lower Eastside of New York. Although it may not have succeeded on that side, it undoubtedly won over new punk and rock bands. Oh, it did.
CBGB is the tale of all things musically brilliant but mainly of the dirty-dwelling venue with a bathroom that’s seen better days, again another understatement. The place closed in 2006 but the trailer looks fun and I’m a sucker for all things music, so check that one out on THN by clicking here.
