While the world comes to terms with the news that DAREDEVIL actor Ben Affleck will slip back into rubber as the Caped Crusader for Zack Snyder’s MAN OF STEEL sequel, uniting Kryptonian Kal-El (Henry Cavill) and crime-fighter Bruce Wayne, eyes now switch back on the main antagonist. The favourite was without a doubt Brit actor Mark Strong, who during an interview was asked about his chances on playing bald baddie Lex Luthor. Replying with the surprising, “Watch this space”. However, could his inclusion as a similar role in KICK-ASS and his connection to the GREEN LANTERN have gone against him?
It appears so as early word suggests BREAKING BAD’s brilliant Bryan Cranston (and arguably fans favourite) has reportedly signed on for a six-picture recurring Nick Fury-like role as the mischievous billionaire head of LexCorp. Making an appearance in possible sequels and future JUSTICE LEAGUE ensemble. A confirmation is expected once Cranston’s final season of his hit AMC series has completed airing in the US.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.

As much as everyone hammers on “Superman Returns” I absolutely LOVED Kevin Spacey as Lex Luthor. He seriously owned that role. He is the only Luthor I could even take seriously. For any flaws of that film percieved or actual, Kevin Spacey as Luthor is worth watching that film for.

You know, I said the same yesterday – Really liked Spacey in that role!

I think the more interesting part of this story is the “six-picture” part. Even if he only has cameos in a couple, that still means DC is forging ahead with its own cinematic universe…
