Foreboding Teaser & Poster For D.C. Sniper Biopic ‘Blue Caprice’

I have a tendency to find true-crime biopics captivating with films like David Fincher’s ZODIAC, John McNaughton’s HENRY and Patty Jenkins’ MONSTER deeply engrossing and fascinating, despite some harrowing subject matters. What that says about my own depraved mind is anyones guess but we have another film on the way that could give us another intense look at the infamous individuals capable of such heinous crime sprees.

BLUE CAPRICE is the striking feature film debut of writer-director Alexandre Moors and tells the tragic tale of an abandoned teen boy (newcomer Tequan Richmond), lured into ‘helping’ out in the notorious 2002 Beltway sniper attacks in Washington D.C. by his dangerous father figure (the underrated Isaiah Washington). A random killing spree that not only shocked a nation but the world.

Inspired by the Beltway sniper attacks during which two men, John Muhammed and Lee Malvo, conducted a siege of terror on the Washington, D.C., area. Their method: a series of random shootings in public places. Their weapon: a sniper rifle, fired from the trunk of a blue Chevrolet Caprice.

The film, which premiered to much acclaim at this years Sundance Film Festival, co-stars Joey Lauren Adams, Tim Blake Nelson and is released on Video On Demand on 20th September. No word yet on a UK cinema release but we have this eerily intense teaser trailer and poster.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
