Marvel Release New Updated Synopsis For ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’

Marvel Phase 2 Concept Art Captain America The Winter Soldier

Over the weekend, The Walt Disney Company have held their annual Disney Expo event in Annaheim, California. It’s another chance to showcase their upcoming projects from film and television in the brand names that they’re involved with. One such name is Marvel and of course, the cast and crew of action-adventure CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDER were on hand to big-up their blockbusting sequel with more exclusive footage and details.

A brand new plot synopsis was revealed to replace the simple premise used when the project was initially announced. It gives credence to the earlier rumours that Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury is in a spot of bother with his corrupt superiors, as well as Chris Evans’ super-soldier Steve Rogers, teaming with Scarlett Johansson’s ass-kicking S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Natasha Romanoff (aka The Black Widow) in an effort to seek the truth and help him out.

After the cataclysmic events inNew York with The Avengers, Marvel’s “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” finds Steve Rogers, aka Captain America, living quietly in Washington, D.C. and trying to adjust to the modern world. But when a S.H.I.E.L.D. colleague comes under attack, Steve becomes embroiled in a web of intrigue that threatens to put the world at risk. Joining forces with the Black Widow, Captain America struggles to expose the ever-widening conspiracy while fighting off professional assassins sent to silence him at every turn. When the full scope of the villainous plot is revealed, Captain America and the Black Widow enlist the help of a new ally, the Falcon. However, they soon find themselves up against an unexpected and formidable enemy—the Winter Soldier.

CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER is directed by Anthony and Joe Russo from a screenplay by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely. It co-stars Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Cobie Smulders, Frank Grillo, Emily VanCamp, Hayley Atwell, Robert Redford, Maximiliano Hernandez and hits cinemas 4th April 2014.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
