Reasons Revealed For Bruce Willis’ ‘Expendables 3’ Exit

The-Expendables-2

Sylvester Stallone recently confirmed via Twitter that Bruce Willis would not be returning but also that cinematic icon Harrison Ford has signed on for action sequel EXPENDABLES 3. While many thought perhaps Willis has scheduling conflicts or possible prior engagements with a bathrobe (his recent slew of interviews for the likes of A GOOD DAY TO DIE HARD or RED 2 have been both embarrassing and rude by the acton superstar), Stallone’s cryptic follow-up Tweet, “Greedy and Lazy”, suggested all was not right between the actors…

Well, it appears that Tweet was indeed aimed at Willis after negotiations saw him requesting $4 million for four days work on the film being directed by RED HILL’s Patrick Hughes. To try and keep the consistent cast together, a follow-up offer from Lionsgate thought to be in the region of $3 million was swiftly knocked back. This angered his co-star and creator of the franchise, Stallone, who rather passionately told him to pretty much “Fuck Off”.

Willis is thought to be surprised not only because they didn’t bow to his demands but also that they were able to replace him within 72 hour with a name like Ford. It’s beginning to look like his ironic role in little-seen indie comedy WHAT JUST HAPPENED starring Robert De Niro, may not be too far from the truth. Then again, maybe it was his way of escaping another action disaster?

EXPENDABLES 3 is set for release 15th August 2014. It will star Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Arnold Schewarzenegger, Jet Li, Jackie Chan, Milla Jovovich, Terry Crews, Nicolas Cage, Kellan Lutz, Mel Gibson, Mickey Rouke and Harrison Ford.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
