Making his first genuine Hollywood effort since 1997s THE FIFTH ELEMENT, Luc Besson’s upcoming crime comedy THE FAMILY stars Robert De Niro and Michelle Pfeiffer as husband and wife of a notorious mafia family named The Manzoni’s, who are forced into the witness protection programme in Normandy when they find themselves the target of trusted former members. However, while settling in to their new location they struggle to leave their old lifestyle behind and begin to some draw unwanted attention.
THE FAMILY is based on the novel ‘Malavita’ by Tonino Benacquista and co-stars Tommy Lee Jones, Dianna Agron, David Belle, John D’Leo with De Niro’s pal Martin Scorcese producing. It hits US cinemas from the 20th September, with it reaching the UK 8th November.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
