Kristen Wiig has gained some more cast mates for comedy outing WELCOME TO ME with the addition of Joan Cusack, Wes Bentley, James Marsden and Alan Tudyk to no doubt watch on in horror as Wigg’s character wins the lottery and spends her winnings on a cable talk show all about herself. Suffering from borderline personality disorder and wanting fame at any cost, the film will show just how far she will go to get it and what it will do to her nearest and dearest.
So far there’s been no announcement on who any of the new cast members will play and the same goes for Will Ferrell, Tim Robbins, Jennifer Jason Leigh and Linda Cardellini who were cast earlier this month. Ferrell is also producing alongside Adam McKay (THE CAMPAIGN) with newcomer Eliot Lawrence writing the screenplay and Shira Piven (FULLY LOADED) at the helm behind the camera.
Joan Cusack has been busying herself on US screens the past few years in a two-time Emmy nominated role in the US version of Paul Abbott’s SHAMELESS. James Marsden has just finished filming as John F Kennedy in The Weinstein Company’s lawsuit-hit THE BUTLER, due out shortly in the US, and is currently in production of the highly anticipated X:Men sequel X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST.
Production on WELCOME TO ME began yesterday in California and the film will be released next year.
