New Stills From JFK Movie ‘Parkland’ Released

Check out these new stills from Peter Landesman directorial debut PARKLAND. The film is a recounting of the chaotic events that occurred at Dallas’ Parkland Hospital on the day U.S. President John F. Kennedy was assassinated.

The film steers clear of any prominent characters and instead follows the smaller but vital roles in the terrible event that happened in 1963. It stars Zac Efron as a young doctor battling with the fact he lost two patients in two days, and Marcia Gay Harden as head nurse in the trauma room. It was believed that the staff at Dallas Parkland Hospital were told that the President would be heading to the hospital, but they had no clue just how severe the situation was.

It also stars Billy Bob Thorton as the head of Dallas’ Secret Service office Forrest Sorrels, who personally took blame for the assassination. Paul Giamatti plays Abraham Zapruder, the man who inadvertedly recorded the assassination, and Jeremy Strong plays Kennedy’s assassin Lee Harvey Oswald, who was also assassinated two days later. While the film follows Oswald, Landesman has stated that the film does not follow any conspiracies on why Oswald did it:

“That’s not what this film is about. No one is putting together any kind of puzzle here. They’re just surviving. But the film will open up a new avenue of debate. And a healthy one.”

PARKLAND will screened at Venice and Toronto Film Festival. Check out the stills below:

The real Parkland Hospital is ironically struggling to stay open on the 50th anniversary of the Kennedy assassination. There are charges of ineptness, corruption, serious patient harm, billing fraud, problems with government safety regulators, and financial mismanagement at the hospital which threaten to close down the hospital for good..

Will the hospital be around when the actual 50th anniversary comes around in November? Find out on the Parkland House or Horrors website.
