Today we can bring you brand news stills from Diablo Cody’s new project PARADISE. Starring Julianne Hough (ROCK OF AGES), Russell Brand (GET HIM TO THE GREEK) and Octavia Spencer (THE HELP), the film focuses on a conservative Christian girl who travels to Las Vegas to ‘live it up’ after being burnt in a plane crash. Hough will play the typically blonde, typically perfect main character, while Brand and Spencer star as a shot-pushing bartender and ‘craps’ dealer. Nick Offerman (Parks And Recreation) and Holly Hunter (THE INCREDIBLES) co-star.
I’m a huge fan of Diablo’s past work, including JUNO and JENNIFER’S BODY. However, something about PARADISE rubs me up the wrong way. Maybe it’s the supposedly ‘horrific’ burns Hough is sporting on her neck and arms (which you can barely see) or maybe it’s Brand’s involvement…
PARADISE has a scheduled US release date of 18th October 2013. No word as-of-yet on a UK date.
