First Two Clips & New Featurettes Hit For Blomkamp’s ‘Elysium’

THN were surprised that Neill Blompkamp’s forthcoming science-fiction epic ELYSIUM wasn’t showcased at this years San Diego Comic Con. Still, perhaps it’s ever increasing release date saw the studio decide it was really necessary. Especially considering a panel appeared last year. ELYSIUM is led by Matt Damon as a man on a mission to the space station in the sky. One that houses the powerful and elite of society, as the Earth becomes ever more desperate and deteriorating.

Check out the latest featurettes and the first two clips just below the following official synopsis:

In the year 2159, two classes of people exist: the very wealthy who live on a pristine man-made space station called Elysium, and the rest, who live on an overpopulated, ruined Earth. Secretary Rhodes, a hard line government of?cial, will stop at nothing to enforce anti-immigration laws and preserve the luxurious lifestyle of the citizens of Elysium. That doesn’t stop the people of Earth from trying to get in, by any means they can. When unlucky Max is backed into a corner, he agrees to take on a daunting mission that if successful will not only save his life, but could bring equality to these polarized worlds.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
