Lisa Kudrow Denies ‘Friends’ Movie Rumours

Friends 800x600

It’s not the news fans were hoping for but Lisa Kudrow has further dented their hopes of a Friends movie ever taking place in a recent interview.  The actress, who played eccentric but loveable Phoebe Buffay in the series, was asked about the possibility and here’s what she had to say:

‘There was never a ‘Friends’ movie. Ever. So I’ve always known it’s not happening. The creators have put them to rest. NBC has. I don’t know who else needs to say, “It’s really not happening.”‘

Back in April it looked like the movie was going ahead when a graphic and online tease were released and Kudrow admits even she was fooled for a while:

‘With this last rumor someone came up with a great graphic with the couch and it looked like a real teaser and I went, “Wait!” And then someone came up with a fake story and got some publication to buy the lie that there was going to be a reunion, so I saw on Twitter people were posting this article that NBC was really going to do it. And I went, “Wait a minute, was I not invited? Oh my God, maybe there is one and I wasn’t asked to do it.” I even had a moment where I believed it because everything around it looked real. It was a good setup.’

The actors have all gone on to various projects since the ten year run came to an end in 2004.  Kudrow has starred in movies such as EASY A and BANDSLAM as well as writing and producing the TV series Web Therapy which is now in it’s third season.  Co-star Courtney Cox has enjoyed success writing, producing, directing and starring in Cougar Town and has recently signed up for her debut feature as a director; JUST BEFORE I GO.  Jennifer Aniston has been on our screens pretty regularly since the show finished with her next project, drug-smuggling comedy WE’RE THE MILLERS, due for release next month.

No matter how many times the cast deny a reunion there is always going to be speculation about a Friends movie due to the popularity of the series.  Perhaps those involved should just give in and make it happen!
