First Intense Trailer For ‘I Spit On Your Grave 2’

I was never a fan of Meir Zarchi’s notorious and poorly acted 1978 rape/revenger I SPIT ON YOUR GRAVE, but Steven Monroe’s 2010 remake was a genuinely ingenious (hard-to-watch) thriller that deserved a whole lot better than it received in both box-office and critical reception. Still, Anchor Bay Films tasked Monroe with follow-up I SPIT ON YOUR GRAVE 2, centring on an all new victim and vicious perpetrators, one which I have my misgivings. However, on the strength of his controversial reboot, I’m willing to give it a shot, although I fail to see how he can top the grotesque set-pieces exacted by Sarah Butler’s wronged women.

What starts out as an innocent and simple photo shoot soon turns into something disturbingly unthinkable. Raped, tortured and kidnapped to a foreign country, Katie is buried alive and left to die. Against all odds, she manages to escape. Severely injured, she will have to tap into the darkest places of the human psyche to not only survive, but to exact her revenge.

Jemma Dallender leads the new film, which will receive its UK premiere at next months Frightfest in London, and here we have the brand new trailer… if you can stomach it!

The film will also receive a very limited theatrical release in the US on September 20th and will then be available on DVD, Blu-ray and VOD on September 24th.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
