Anne-Marie Duff Joins Ethan Hawke In ‘Macbeth’ On Broadway

Anne-Marie Duff

Anne-Marie Duff is continuing her domination of the stage and this time she’s going global! Duff has been announced as Ethan Hawke’s co-star in an upcoming Broadway production of Shakespeare’s Macbeth where she will play the ambitious and violent Lady Macbeth to Hawke’s Scottish nobleman.

Duff, who is largely unknown to American audiences, is currently starring in Strange Interlude at the National Theatre, the same theatre at which her performance in Saint Joan won her an Oliver Award nomination.  She has also starred in productions of King Lear and War and Peace.  Duff’s breakout role came in 2004’s Shameless in which she played the eldest of the Gallagher clan Fiona.   The show ran for seven years and whilst Duff left after two seasons she returned for the final episode which aired in Channel 4 earlier this year.  Also taking her talents to the big screen she had a starring role alongside Aaron Johnson in John Lennon biopic NOWHERE BOY and will co-star with Nicole Kidman and Colin Firth in the upcoming adaptation of S.J. Watson’s mystery thriller BEFORE I GO TO SLEEP.

Macbeth will be Duff’s Broadway debut and the production opens November 21st at the Vivian Beaumont Theatre in New York.
