‘The Avengers 2’ Full Title And Villain Is Revealed At Comic Con!

A couple of minutes ago THN stepped out of Hall H at the San Diego Comic Con after witnessing Joss Whedon take to the stage during the final minutes of the Marvel panel. “I actually don’t have much to say,” he said, but soon added: “But I do have something to show you.” The crowd erupted and VT rolled. What followed was what seemed to be a teaser trailer for THE AVENGERS 2 with all of the the first movie’s characters superimposed over a red, metal object. That red metal object was revealed to be…. Ultron!

Cut to title card and the reveal of the whole Comic Con, the full title for THE AVENGERS 2. THE AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON.

The character initially appeared in an unnamed cameo in Avengers #54 (1968), with a first full appearance in Avengers #55 (1968). Ultron was created by writer Roy Thomas and artist John Buscema.

Abilities: Artificial intelligence with robotic body; abilities vary with each redesign but generally include extreme durability and energy projection.

This literally blew the lid off Hall H, and was the perfect ending to an amazing day. Marvel had to knock it out of the park with the final major studio panel, and they truly did.
