Boarding the Will Ferrell-produced WELCOME TO ME today are Kristen Wiig, Tim Robbins, Jennifer Jason Leigh and Linda Cardellini. The movie will focus on Kristen Wiig’s character, Alice, who suffers from a mental disorder and when she wins the lottery decides to spend her winnings on a cable talk show about her life. The casting of Wiig brings her back alongside Ferrell and Adam McKay, also producing, who she worked with on her upcoming release ANCHORMAN: THE LEGEND CONTINUES. Characters for the other cast have yet to be released.
Robbins, who has been selective in his roles in recent years, was last seen on UK screens in 2011’s disappointing comic book adaption GREEN LANTERN and has THANKS FOR SHARING; Stuart Blumberg’s sex addiction comedy due for release in September. Jennifer Jason Leigh will be known to fans of TV show Revenge and Linda Cardellini has been stepping out in Mad Men.
SILVER LININGS PLAYBOOK has shown movies about mental health problems can be very successful with the movie and screenplay being nominated for awards aplenty and Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence also being awarded for their endeavors.
Filming is expected to being later this year in California with a 2014 release date expected.
