We’ve previously given you the first trailer and that Rooney Mara-centered poster for AIN’T THEM BODIES SAINTS, and now we’ve got the official release date of September 6th in the UK and Ireland.
David Lowery writes and directs the project that looks really interesting and best of all, we’ve got the addition of the brilliant Casey Affleck alongside Mara in the main leads. The film is quintessentially the story of an outlaw who escapes from prison and sets out across the Texas hills to reunite with his wife and the daughter he has never met, there’s also additional cast support from Ben Foster.
AIN’T THEM BODIES SAINTS went down a storm at the Sundance Film Festival, where it was nominated for the Grand Jury Prize and won the U.S. Dramatic Cinematography Award. It is produced by Cassian Elwes (THE PAPERBOY), James M. Johnston (ST. NICK), Toby Halbrooks (UPSTREAM COLOR) and Amy Kaufman (Y TU MAMA TAMBIENS), so has definitely got the right kind of indie heart behind it.
The film is described as a ‘story of love, motherhood and searching for peace while faced with an unrelenting past‘ and although sometimes those kind of films can be a little too predictable, we’ve got a lot of hope for the sheer scope of Lowery’s vision.
