Adam Lambert Joins ‘Glee’ Cast

Glee showrunner Ryan Murphy announced on Twitter last night that American Idol alum Adam Lambert is set to join the cast of the upcoming fifth season of the FOX show.  This will be the first acting role for Lambert who was runner up of the eighth series of the juggernaut US talent show in 2009.  No information has been revealed about the role or how prominent a part he will play in the series but you can bet he’ll be putting his singing talents to good use!

The cast of Glee has seen recent shake ups as the high schoolers graduate and move away from Lima, Ohio.  It’s already been confirmed that Heather Morris (Brittany), Mark Salling (Puck), Amber Riley (Mercedes) and Harry Shum, Jr. (Mike) will not be returning as series regulars when season five gets underway.  In addition half of the show is now set in New York to accommodate for the story lines of Rachel (Lea Michele), Kurt (Chris Colfer) and Santana (Naya Rivera).  Fans have been slow to welcome the new characters and show veterans Jane Lynch and Matthew Morrison saw less screen time.  Guest stars are a sure-fire way to win back fan’s hearts so expect more announcements in the coming months.

The fifth season of Glee is due back on US screens in September with a sixth season also being confirmed for renewal.
