Stellan Skarsgard Joins Branagh’s ‘Cinderella’

Stellan Skarsgard

THOR favourite Stellan Skarsgard has reportedly joined the cast of Kenneth Branagh’s live-action adaptation of CINDERELLA, with him taking on the role of the king’s advisor, the Grand Duke.

Starring Lily James (Secret Diary Of A Call Girl, WRATH OF THE TITANS) as the title role, Skarsgard’s other co-stars include Richard Madden (Game Of Thrones) as the Prince, Cate Blanchett (LORD OF THE RINGS) as the wicked step-mother and Helena Bonham Carter (HARRY POTTER) as the fairy godmother. Holliday Grainger (GREAT EXPECTATIONS) and Sophie McShera (DOWNTON ABBEY) will play James’ evil stepsisters.

Branagh is a living legend, so with him as director we know this live-action fairytale will be brilliant. Skarsgard is joining an already talent-packed cast so he’ll fit right in. The only thing that caught me by surprise was Bonham Carter’s role as the fairy godmother, rather than something darker and more ‘evil’. Maybe she’s getting tired of wearing black all the time?

Considering Jazmine grew up watching CARRY ON SCREAMING, THE LION KING and JURASSIC PARK on repeat for weeks on end, it made sense for her to study film at London South Bank University. It’s also a good thing that her course requires a lot of sitting down because she’s very accident-prone. When she’s not examining her bruises, she likes pretending that she doesn’t live in Southend-On-Sea and spends hours mindlessly blogging. Favourite films include BLUE VALENTINE, ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND and TOY STORY 2.
