New Trailer & Poster For Western ‘Sweet Vengeance’

Despite being THN’s resident horror specialist, I love all genres but have a real soft spot for the western. I’m perhaps one of the few people here looking forward to forthcoming flop-buster THE LONE RANGER. However, there is another western on the horizon and one that doesn’t share the same massive budget. Sundance favourite SWEETWATER is currently having bit of identity crisis with the film, set in the late 1800s, going under a number of other monikers.

The film follows January Jones’ former prostitute Sarah, who, after seeing her husband Miguel (Eduardo Noriega) killed in cold-blood by religious fanatic Josaih (Jason Isaacs), becomes determined in putting a bullet in the murderer. It’s left to renegade Sheriff Ed Harris to attempt to stop Sarah’s crusading mission through the rugged plains of the New Mexico Territory.

Logan Miller directs the film from a script he co-write with his brother Noah and here we have the first trailer, going under the title of SWEET VENGEANCE. We’ve also the first poster with the alternative France title of SHERIFF JACKSON. A little more digging and I’ve found it’s slipped by unnoticed to a straight-to-DVD release here in UK last month!

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
