We might have had a reason to celebrate when it was announced that Dan Harmon would be returning to COMMUNITY. However, the celebrations haven’t lasted as long as we thought, as it was revealed that fan-favourite Donald Glover would be significantly reducing his role in season five of the show.
Glover had previously stated that he was looking to focus on his music career and was putting acting on hold. It looks like Glover and Sony Pictures Television have actually worked out a deal, which will see him appearing in less than half of the 13 episode that COMMUNITY’s season five will have. How will Abed cope without Troy for so long?! On the plus side, the other main cast members (including Alison Brie, Joel McHale, Gillian Jacobs and Danny Pudi) are set to reprise their roles for the full season.
While Glover may be known for playing Troy Barnes in COMMUNITY, he also performs under the name Childish Gambino. He is set to go back to the studio to follow up 2011’s Camp and his mixtape Royalty.
