Surprisingly coming very early considering it’s not set for release for well over 14 months, we have the first teaser trailer and poster from the magical 3D stop-motion fantasy from Laika Studios and Focus Features’ THE BOXTROLLS. Fans of Laika’s similar-styled animation efforts, CORALINE and PARANORMAN, will be eager to see this new story centring on a lovable community of creatures that live underground the Victorian streets of Cheesebridge, who adopt an abandoned orphaned child they name Egg.
THE BOXTROLLS, adapted by Alan Snow’s celebrated children’s novel, is co-directed by Anthony Stacchi and Graham Annable, and features the voices of Elle Fanning, Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, Toni Collette, Jared Harris, Richard Ayoade, Ben Kinsgley, Tracey Morgan and Isaac Hempstead Wright. It’s will arrive in US cinemas 26th September 2014, while a UK date is still to be confirmed.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
