New Name Joins Jon Stewart’s ‘Rosewater’

Shohreh Aghdashloo

Shohreh Aghdashloo, star of HOUSE OF SADDAM and HOUSE OF SAND AND FOG, has reportedly joined the cast of Jon Stewart’s directorial debut ROSEWATER.

Based on a true story, ROSEWATER follows the journey and imprisonment of Iranian-born Maziar Bahari (played by Gael Garcia Bernal), a journalist who travels from Canada to his native Teheran to report on the 2009 Presidential election. However, things don’t go to plan for Maziar and he is arrested and detained for 118 days. Shohreh is set to play Bahari’s mother Moloojoon.

Stewart is the much-loved presenter of The Daily Show, so we already know he’s full of wit, talent and potential. As for Aghdashloo, she’s previously won an Emmy award (Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Miniseries or Movie) and has been nominated for an Academy Award (Best Supporting Actress). ROSEWATER is already full of talent so anyone joining the cast has a lot to live up to.

Considering Jazmine grew up watching CARRY ON SCREAMING, THE LION KING and JURASSIC PARK on repeat for weeks on end, it made sense for her to study film at London South Bank University. It’s also a good thing that her course requires a lot of sitting down because she’s very accident-prone. When she’s not examining her bruises, she likes pretending that she doesn’t live in Southend-On-Sea and spends hours mindlessly blogging. Favourite films include BLUE VALENTINE, ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND and TOY STORY 2.
