The first official images have hit the web from the forthcoming action-thriller THE MAZE RUNNER, which is based on James Dashner’s same-titled young adult novel. Current TEEN WOLF heartthrob Dylan O’Brien (apparently, although I’ve never bothered my arse to watch it) leads as Thomas, one of a group of teenagers who all awake with their memory wiped in an mysterious gladiatorial-like arena with moving walls that hide hideous and hazardous creatures known as Grievers.
Hoping to take advantage of the success of Suzanne Collins’ novel series and now hit film franchise, THE HUNGER GAMES, director Wes Ball’s film has the following official synopsis.
Based on the young-adult novel by James Dashner, “The Maze Runner” centers around teen Thomas (O’Brien), who awakens in a rusty elevator with no memory of who he is. What he does come to find out is that he’s been delivered to the middle of an intricate maze, along with a slew of other boys, who have been trying to find their way out of the ever-changing labyrinth — all the while establishing a functioning society within the enclosure they’ve come to call “The Glade.”
THE MAZE RUNNER opens 14th February 2014 and co-stars Kaya Scodelario, Thomas Brodie-Sangster, Patricia Clarkson, Will Poulter, Ki Hong Lee and Chris Sheffield.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
