Ridiculous Rewrite: New Stills from ‘Noah,’ Aronofsky’s Reboot of ‘Evan Almighty’

Noah Evan Almighty

Here are some new stills from NOAH, Darren Aronofsky’s dark new vision of classic comedy EVAN ALMIGHTY.

(Not really, this is a spoof article. But just go along with it)

Like BATMAN BEGINS and THE AMAZING SPIDERMAN before it, this reboot is taking the darker and grittier path. While the Steve Carell original provided a tsunami of laughter, Aronofsky will show the world a far more serious version of a man rescuing animals in a big boat. He has given Evan the new moniker of Noah (in reference to his favourite band Noah and the Whale) and, furthering his love of musical references, cast the world’s greatest singer in the titular role. Russell Crowe astounded cinema goers with his singing prowess in LES MISERABLES, rolling up and down octaves like his larynx was some sort of fleshy skateboard. Now he is going to save every animal from their two greatest threats; flooding and Ray Winstone.

‘I remember seeing the original version with that bloke from The Office,’ said Crowe. ‘I was furious! I don’t know why. Maybe I’m just wired that way. I quickly ran out of phones to throw at the rest of the audience and left, singing.’

Aronofsky says it was this undiluted rage that he wanted in his new vision of EVAN. ‘I first saw Russell dropping phones on people from a hot air balloon and thought to myself, “that’s the kind of ruthless aggression needed for my new darker, grittier version of Evan.” It’s worked out better than I could ever have foreseen.’

Below you will find new still images from the set of co-stars Emma Watson, Jennifer Connelly, Logan Lerman, Ray Winstone, and Anthony Hopkins, who plays the rain.
