It’s that dreaded moment for TV executives everywhere – contract negotiations. And this TV season’s negotiation drama has started with a big bang indeed!

The cast of Chuck Lorre smash The Big Bang Theory have missed their original season eight production start date due to the fact that contracts have not been signed by the show’s stars Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting, Johnny Galecki, Jim Parsons, Simon Helberg and Kunal Nayyar. While CBS seem to be playing it cool, Warner Bros. TV did release a statement to confirm that production had been pushed back.

The Big Bang Theory is a huge show for Warner Bros. TV, estimated to generate up to $2 billion in revenue. As the show was renewed for three more years back in March, we’re definitely not surprised that negotiations have gone this long.

The Big Bang Theory season eight is still set to return in September, but at the rate it’s going, don’t hold your breath!
