Which Balding Brit Is Snyder Eying For ‘Man Of Steel’ Sequel?

Warner Bros. are said to be fast-tracking their follow-up to Zack Snyder’s Superman reboot MAN OF STEEL, which has crossed the worldwide $400 million benchmark this weekend after only two weeks of release. Both the director and screenwriter, David S. Goyer, are already committed to the sequel, which the studio are attempting to put into production before the end of the year.

A lot of seeds were planted in the latest superhero re-imagining of the DC comic-book character. It wasn’t difficult to spot the presence of LexCorp – even in all the chaos and destruction. Superman’s number one nemesis, Lex Luthor, is sure to make an appearance in the follow-up and word is Snyder already has an eye on the man he wants for the bald, billionaire, ego-driven antagonist!

Well, Great Brit Mark Strong is apparently frontrunner for the role.

Strong’s stock his risen in Hollywood and he continues to do sterling work in big-budget blockbusters like SHERLOCK HOLMES and KICK-ASS, while returning to more personal projects in his homeland like the recent WELCOME TO THE PUNCH and BLOOD. However, let us also not forget his link to the DC universe with the woeful GREEN LANTERN. A disaster not of his making though and thankfully hidden behind plenty of CGI. Would he be your choice? Do let us know!

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.

I think he would be an awesome Lex but he is already Sinestro in Green Lantern and I think that roles suits him more.

No doubt, he’d be an awesome Lex. But, he was probably the lone bright spot in a pretty bad Green Lantern movie. It would cool to see him continue as Sinestro some how.

If the script is powerful enough for the characters,I would prefer ‘Daniel-Day Lewis’ as Lex’ ….

Interesting choice…he does a great baddie; Septimus in Stardust was a treat to watch so I think he’d make a terrific Lex Luthor!

He’s a great actor and I believe he’d do a great job. That having been said, I hope he can score another big budget roll instead of this one, he’s just too obvious of a choice it’s like, “Hey we need an intelligent bad guy, I know! Let’s call Mark Strong!” This is a huge roll and I’d love to see someone unexpected come out and nail it.

Man of steel sucked. A sequel would also suck.

That would be great, but good luck with that happening. Mark Strong is an excellent actor and I think he would do very well. I liken him to the animated version of Lex from Superman; TaS, Justice League, and JLU.

Cool. You don’t like it but the majority of the general audience did. So don’t go see the sequel. It will be one less whiny voice heard through the interwebz.

That’s kind of an interesting choice. It still think Billy Zane would be awesome.

I agree with SV about Michael Roaenbaum, but I’m still hoping to see him cast as the flash or in a hopeful green lantern reboot. I love Mark Strong and he plays bad very well
