Nope, we’re not mucking around with you, you read that headline correctly. It was revealed that Paul Giamatti will be joining the cast of ITV’s posh hit DOWNTON ABBEY.

While Giamatti is no stranger to the big screen, he will now be flying across the pond for a stint as Harold Levinson, the maverick, playboy brother of Cora (Elizabeth McGovern) and uncle to Mary (Michelle Dockery) and Edith (Laura Carmichael) in series four of the show. Executive producer of the show Gareth Neame described Giamatti’s character as “free spirited” and promised his character will “upset the Grantham’s apple cart” in the show’s finale.

Giamatti joins a whole new bunch of faces for DOWNTON ABBEY’s series four, including BLUESTONE 42’s Gary Carr, WEEKEND’s Tom Cullen, LAW & ORDER UK’s Harriet Walters and ex EASTENDERS bad boy Nigel Harman.
