Two more top actors have joined the cast of underrated director Brad Anderson’s modernised take on Edgar Allen Poe’s short story, ‘The System of Doctor Tarr and Professor Fether’, going by the title of ELIZA GRAVES.
The superb Brendan Gleeson (so brilliant in the likes of LAKE PLACID, THE GENERAL and IN BRUGES) and his Harry Potter co-star David Thewlis, have both signed on for of the upcoming suspense thriller which also boasts Kate Beckinsale, Jim Sturgess, Anthony Hopkins and Ben Kingsley.
The film, from a screenplay by Joseph Gangemi, will see Sturgess’ Harvard Medical School graduate take a job at an insane asylum, terrifyingly unaware of the fact that it has been taken over by its occupants. Anderson’s previous foray in the ‘haunted insane asylum’ genre, SESSION 9, is a now looked on as a genuine cult classic. His latest effort, serial-killer thriller THE CALL, starring Halle Berry, was a surprise sleeper hit in the US, while it’s still to hit the UK.
Shooting will commence next week for a release early 2014.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
