If there’s ever the life of an author that has captured the imagination and intrigue for years, it’s that of J.D. Salinger who wrote ‘Catcher In The Rye‘. This Weinstein Company documentary looks stunningly fascinating as it delves into his life and tries to uncover not only why he vanished from the public eye in 1965, but also all the secrets of his past that drove him to be a recluse.
The enigmatic author has long been the discussion of many, to just what happened then and before his classic novel came out. In this documentary, they interview no less than 150 of Salinger’s friends, colleagues and people who’ve never spoken before about his life and show film footage, photographs and more.
You’ll hear from the likes of Philip Seymour Hoffman, Edward Norton, John Cusack, Danny DeVito, Gore Vidal and Pulitzer Prize winners A. Scott Berg and Elizabeth Frank talk about his influence on their lives in ways that we’ve never seen before after his death in 2010. I can’t wait for this, it looks amazing and they’re selling it with enough drama to make a fictional film from but, as we will surely find out, all this is real. Check out the trailer below and scroll down for the poster, possibly brilliant work on the way:
SALINGER so far only has a September 6th release date in the US but we’re sure to find it in the UK at some point, we hope!
