I love the fact that Christian Slater is still making movies. My fondness of the actor peaked in 1993 when he assumed the now iconic role of Clarence Worley in the superb Quentin Tarantino scripted and Tony Scott directed TRUE ROMANCE. Around that time he also turned heads book-ending Neil Jordan’s INTERVIEW WITH A VAMPIRE and starred opposite John Travolta’s villain in the not so great BROKEN ARROW from John Woo.
Twenty years on and Slater is starring in a low budget horror named STRANDED, which revolves around four isolated astronauts on board a bio-dome space craft, who experience a ghostly intercession after a meteor storm, leading to paranoia, fear and death. Erm, okay… I’m not sure how this is going to go down, and having not seen it, I can’t comment on the quality of the finished product, but Slater bloodly well deserves a comeback.
Brendan Fehr, Amy Matysio and Michael Therriault also star in the film, which is directed by Brit helmer Roger Christian. This is opening in select US theaters on July 24th. We have no current release info for the UK.
