Joss Whedon, most likely known for directing summer sensation AVENGERS ASSEMBLE and for co-writing THE CABIN IN THE WOODS, may have another hit on his hands. MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING, his adaptation of the classic Shakespeare play, debuted at five US theatres over the weekend and raked in a very respectable $183,000.
Starring Amy Acker (ANGEL), Alexis Denisof (HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER), Nathan Fillion (CASTLE), Clark Gregg (AVENGERS ASSEMBLE), Reed Diamond (FRANKLIN & BASH), Franz Kranz (THE CABIN IN THE WOODS) and newbie Jillian Morgese, the film averaged around $36,680 per cinema. Could the film’s magical pull have something to do with the mention of Whedon’s name or do people still fall for Shakespeare adaptations?
You won’t have to wait long to find out for yourself; MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING hits UK cinemas from 14th June 2013.

Considering Jazmine grew up watching CARRY ON SCREAMING, THE LION KING and JURASSIC PARK on repeat for weeks on end, it made sense for her to study film at London South Bank University. It’s also a good thing that her course requires a lot of sitting down because she’s very accident-prone. When she’s not examining her bruises, she likes pretending that she doesn’t live in Southend-On-Sea and spends hours mindlessly blogging. Favourite films include BLUE VALENTINE, ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND and TOY STORY 2.
