The loose phrase, ‘too many cooks in the kitchen’ isn’t often used in the world of cinema but that’s exactly the reason for a hold-up to a sequel to the Platinum Dunes 2009 woeful remake of horror classic FRIDAY THE 13TH. Well, following legals wrangles involving a number of parties, we can now expect yet another reboot, re-imaginining and/or sequel(s) after breaking news reports that the original distributor Paramount Pictures has regained the rights to the Sean S. Cunningham-created slasher series for at least the next five years.
Expect Camp Crystal Lake to reopen in the next year or two as the hulking hockey masked maniac Jason Vorhees goes on another killing spree involving big-breasted beauties and their unlikeable boyfriends. Paramount are said to immediately putting a plan into action to see the psycho and his signature machete back on the big-screen.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
