We’ve covered a fair few set stills from the much-anticapted Marvel sequel, CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER. The most recent images gave us the first look at our heroic First Avenger’s new foe, in the form of his long-thought-dead best buddy Bucky Barnes, the sub-titled villain of the sequel. Sebastian Stan returns as a reanimated frozen corpse, reprogrammed in present day by another bad guy, Crossbones (being played by the brilliant WARRIOR and THE GREY actor Frank Grillo) as a super-strength assassin. Well, he’ll also have a little help from Toby Jones’ time-hopping slimy scientist, Dr. Arnim Zola.
These latest set images, The Winter Soldier atop of a moving humvee, gives us the first glance at the undead puppet’s secret weapon – his crushing bionic arm.
CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER will co-star Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Anthony Mackie, Cobie Smulders, Emily VanCamp, Samuel L. Jackson, Hayley Atwell, Maximiliano Hernandez and is set to cinemas from the 4th April 2014. Joe and Anthony Russo direct.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.

I’m sorry but whoever wrote this wants shot. Subtitled villain? Is he speaking Russian? Crossbones programs the winter soldier? Since when? And a frozen corpse? Undead? Do some basic research man for goodness sake. Your ‘reporting’ is a joke. If this guys leading the charge then god help the rest of your writers.

No he’s not expected to speak russian Terrahawk 78. ‘Sub-titled’ villain of the piece means the protagonist in the title, hence the dash in between. As for Crossbones reprogramming him that’s what we’re hearing with the plot set to mix two different comic arcs. It’s well known Bucky’s corpse is found frozen after losing his arm meaning he’s genetically resurrected as some sort of zombiefied super soldier. Please, no need to get personal.

Zola is in this? Does this mean they are going the robotic/holographic faceplate route? Not sure how they can do it otherwise.
