While making superstar action ensemble THE EXPENDABLES in 2010, director and star Sylvester Stallone promised genre fans a spectacular action extravaganza the likes of which we’d never seen. I don’t know about you lot but I thought it was spectacularly shit and wish I’d ‘never seen’. I just couldn’t bother my arse about the follow-up. Still, many fans were impressed with both efforts leading to confirmation the spine of the cast would return for a threequel.
The project recently confirmed RED HILL writer/director Patrick Hughes would be helming the THE EXPENDABLES 3 with the likes of Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren and Mickey Rourke, all returning. There’s also been word Stallone has been attempting to coax Jackie Chan, Nicolas Cage and the recently-released from prison, Wesley Snipes, as new blood.
We’re now hearing all three of those names are in final negotiations to appear in third outing for Barney Ross’ heroic crew along with RESIDENT EVIL stunner Milla Jovovich. Do these names make you excited… and should I give the first sequel a go? Do let me know?

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.

Milla is one of the few actresses i can really take seriously in an action flick. Glad she will finally be in a movie with the potential to be good.

They need to kill off at least 50% of the characters in each release since they are Expendable…
Or has that word got a new meaning all of a sudden??
