Arguably a peculiar for the role of the extravagant superstar singer Elton John, but muscular actor Tom Hardy is currently being eyed to headline the long in-development biopic, ROCKETMAN. Michael Gracey will make his directorial debut and has his heart set on Hardy for the lead, despite continued rumours of Justin Timberlake’s nailed on inclusion.
The life story is expected to be unlike the usual autobiographical movies and will be “told in a non-linear, hyper-visual manner complete with choreographed sequences set to John’s songs“. After giving a stunning, if exaggerated performance of notorious, hulking career criminal in Nicolas Winding Refn’s BRONSON, perhaps this isn’t a million miles away and we shouldn’t be that surprised.
Is THE DARK KNIGHT RISES villain a good pick if he’s interested? Do let us know your thoughts. The above image with Hardy donning some similar sunglasses we’ve often seen the singer in over the years, may help. Bronson. Bane. Mad Max… Elton John? We’ll keep you posted.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
