It is being reported that John C Reilly has been offered a part in James Gunn’s upcoming GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY.
Marvel are said to have reached out to Reilly in relation to the role of Rhomman Dey, a name likely to be familiar to fans of the comic book.
While the character is traditionally presented as the Nova Corps leader responsible for empowering human Richard Rider, sources seem to suggest that for the movie he will be re-purposed as the super-group’s resident S.H.I.E.L.D. liaison, putting him in a similar position to that served by Clark Greig’s Agent Coulson during Marvel’s Phase One.
If such reports are proved to be true, Reilly won’t be acting alone, either. It seems he will be assisted by a second agent, to be played — should Marvel get their way — by either Hugh Laurie, Alan Rickman or Ken Watanabe.
