The Best Of WWE In Your House Blu-Ray Review

in-your-house

On May 14, 1995 WWE debuted an initially bi-monthly pay-per-view called IN YOUR HOUSE. Offering fans a cheaper alternative to the ‘big four’ ROYAL RUMBLE, WRESTLEMANIA, SUMMERSLAM and SURVIVOR SERIES, the shows featured the biggest stars of the time – Bret Hart, Shawn Michaels, Diesel, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Mankind et al. – continuing, and in some cases concluding feuds started on WWE’s weekly show RAW.

Housed over two Blu-rays, or three DVDs, the set is hosted by Todd Pettengill, original host of IN YOUR HOUSE shows, and features predominantly excellent and exciting matches. Particular highlights are Bret Hart Vs. British Bulldog and Hart Foundation Vs. Stone Cold Steve Austin, Legion of Doom, Goldust & Ken Shamrock which features the hottest crowd in living memory and is utterly spellbinding. The real star of the pack though is Shawn Michaels; featuring in four fabulous matches this is Michaels at his best and worst as he struts around the ring pre-match looking like a drugged-up zombie who hasn’t slept in a month, before the bell rings and he enter a zone so few have ever visited.

The whole package is put together very professionally and it is a joy to see Pettengill back on WWE TV, he’s clearly lost none of his love for the business since he left and is a very likeable personality. Sadly he has cut off his mullet but you can’t have it all.

IN YOUR HOUSE introduced a new era for WWE with more exposure than ever before and this set does the show justice. Running at seven hours the set is long but the quality will leave you wanting more which the Blu-ray exclusive extras provide in the form of a few excellent matches and some Pettengill outtakes. What more could you ask for? Nothing is the answer so get out and buy it!

THE BEST OF WWE IN YOUR HOUSE is released on Blu-ray and DVD 27th May via Fremantle Media

Sam is a bloody lovely lad born and raised in Bristol (he’s still there and can’t escape). Favourite films include THE LOST BOYS, DRIVE, FIGHT CLUB and COMMANDO, well pretty much any 1980s Arnie film you can throw his way…even RED SONJA. Sam once cancelled a Total Film subscription after they slagged off Teen Wolf. He resubscribed 2 days later.
