Franck Khalfoun’s acclaimed and unique remake of William Lustig’s controversial sleazy slasher MANIAC, may have come and gone without much fuss here in the UK. However, those lucky folks in the US have still to sample the gory of greatness of the graphic horror led by Elijah Wood.
The doe-eyed LORD OF THE RINGS star gives a startling and disturbing performance as Frank, previously played with demented relish by the late Joe Spinell in the 1980 cult classic. THE HILLS HAVE EYES and PIRANHA 3D remake masters Alexandre Aja and Gregory Levesssuer are the screenwriters collaborating once again on a modern upgrade of a terrifying tale.
