One of my favourite under-appreciated actors has landed roles in two very exciting projects.
Joel Edgerton will star alongside Johnny Depp in Barry Levinson’s biopic of notorious Boston crime figure Whitey Bulger, the brother of a state senator who went down altogether different route than his sibling. Depp will portray the career criminal, who ultimately turned ‘rat’ for the FBI. Edgerton takes the role of the FBI agent John Connolly, a childhood friend of Bulger. Both the characters of ‘Fergie’, (played by the late Pete Postlethwaite) in Ben Affleck’s THE TOWN and Jack Nicholson’s Frank Costello in Scorecese’s THE DEPARTED are based on the mobster.
The Aussie actor will also join the gorgeous Michelle Williams on a remake of Giuseppe Capotondi’s 2009 acclaimed Italian thriller, THE DOUBLE HOUR. The original followed a chambermaid and an ex-cop whom meet at a speed dating event and develop a romantic relationship. However, their first exotic getaway sees things suddenly take a dark turn. MARIA FULL OF GRACE’s Joshua Marston will write and direct the nail-biter.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
