Those awaiting Legendary Pictures re-imagining of Japan’s iconic creature GODZILLA still have a year to wait for the release of the big-budget blockbuster directed by MONSTERS’ Gareth Edwards. Frank Darabont was the last name to give the screenplay a major overhaul just before filming began on the sci-fi epic starring the impressive cast of Elizabeth Olsen, Bryan Cranston, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Ken Watanabe, Juliette Binoche and David Strathairn.
The film is currently shooting and the director Edwards has released this mini production update to assure fans the massive monster is on the way. He also points out it’s the first day on the project for one of the lead cast members. Take a look.
Cinema-goers will face GODZILLA’s fiery wrath when it opens exactly a year to the day on 16th May 2014.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
