Actors Look Up Ladies’ Skirts In New Nymphomaniac Promo

Here is a new promotional shot for Lars Von Trier’s upcoming (ahem) NYMPHOMANIAC.

Nymphomaniac

The Dogme 95 veteran is no stranger to controversy, but we won’t go into his wacky adventures with Hitler and female castration, or his seeming contempt for his lady actors. Instead, let’s have a peek at his tongue in cheek (and presumably elsewhere) promotional image, which is less MELANCHOLIA and more CARRY ON MATRON. Phallic fruit, riding crops, ice cream breasts, barrels of lubricant, women’s pants and more ejaculation symbolism than you can shake a big fat cock at. The director himself appears with duct tape on his mouth, filming the whole scenario on his camera phone. He puts the B into subtle, but that’s our Lars!

Look closely and you’ll see stars like Uma Thurman, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Shia LaBeouf, Jamie Bell, Christian Slater, Willem Dafoe and Udo Kier among many others. Von Trier is still editing, so no surprise appearance at Cannes is likely. We have no American or UK release dates, nor can we tell what kind of tone the film will adopt. The brief synopsis we’ve heard relates to Joe (Gainsbourg) being found beaten in an alleyway. She is taken home by Seligman (Skarsgard) and recounts the last few decades of her active sex life. Brutal erotic parable? Or saucy Channel 5 style caper? We’ll keep you posted.

John is a gentleman, a scholar, he’s an acrobat. He is one half of the comedy duo Good Ol’ JR, and considers himself a comedy writer/performer. This view has been questioned by others. He graduated with First Class Honours in Media Arts/Film & TV, a fact he will remain smug about long after everyone has stopped caring. He enjoys movies, theatre, live comedy and writing with the JR member and hetero life partner Ryan. Some of their sketches can be seen on YouTube and YOU can take their total hits to way over 17!
