Even though this new series screams a little GIRLS 2.0, we have to admit we are excited to hear that HBO has greenlit a new eight part series which will see TAKING WOODSTOCK and GLEE star Jonathan Groff in a lead role. The pilot was directed by Andrew Haigh, the director of the rather amazing WEEKEND. This will also be the first big writing project for Michael Lannan, who’s credits include associate producer of REMEMBER ME and assistant director of James Franco’s INTERIOR. LEATHER. BAR.
The show, which currently has the title UNTITLED MICHAEL LANNAN COMEDY, will follow “Three friends in San Francisco explore the fun and sometimes overwhelming options available to a new generation of gay men.” Groff’s co-stars will include Frankie J. Alvarez and Murray Bartlett. Will it follow the same success as GIRLS? Only time will tell!
