Hayley Atwell Gives Update On Her Marvel One Shot & News Footage From ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’

Stunning British actress Hayley Atwell has confirmed she’ll feature in the next Marvel One Shot, which fans will first have a chance at viewing at this years San Diego Comic-Con. Her character Peggy Carter, in Joe Johnson’s action adventure THE FIRST AVENGER, was the Nazi-stomping lost love to the Cap (Chris Evans). She’ll also return for the forthcoming sequel in a number of flashback sequences, while Rogers struggles to keep his hands of her niece, Sharon (aka S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent 13).

Here’s an update on the project from the actress herself:

Fans of the first film really wanted to find out what happened to Peggy afterwards. So Marvel are also making a short film, which is basically ‘What Peggy Did Next’, which will be shown at Comic-Con and be on the DVD extras of the second film (Captain America: The Winter Soldier). So as well as doing a bit in the new film, I’ve got a whole new spin-off short film. It has been great to be back in training with the stunt coordinators, kicking some butt again.

We’ve also added a number of news reports and set footage from the currently shooting Marvel sequel, CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER, which sees the return of shield-flinging Avenger, Steve Rogers. This time he’s up against former friend Bucky Barnes, now resurrected as a deadly assassin by Frank Grillo’s new madman, Crossbones.

CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER is released 4th April 2014 and co-stars Samuel L. Jackson, Toby Jones, Scarlett Johansson, Cobie Smulders, Anthony Mackie, Emily VanCamp, Robert Redford and Sebastian Stan. It’s written and directed by Joe and Anthony Russo.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
