While we were disappointed Matthew Vaughn vacated to directors chair following his impressive prequel X-MEN: FIRST CLASS, after the terrific job he did with X2, Bryan Singer was the natural choice to coax back into the evolutionary Marvel universe. Few can argue Singer knows this world like the back of his hand and with the sequel to the franchise he began in 2000, he crafted one of the best ever comic-book efforts that belongs right up there alongside Raimi’s SPIDER-MAN 2, Nolan’s THE DARK KNIGHT and Whedon’s THE AVENGERS.
Singer is currently shooting the mutant-filled follow-up to FIRST CLASS, which will see the cast of young and old come together in a plot of interweaving and alternative timelines. Check out this first classic, 70s-style look at the returning Hugh Jackman as Logan and Nicholas Hoult’s Hank McCoy. We’ve also added an earlier image of James McAvoy’s Professor Xavier for those who may have missed it!
Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart, Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, Anna Paquin, Ellen Page, Shawn Ashmore, Peter Dinklage, Omar Sy, Halle Berry, Daniel Cudmore, Fan Bingbing and Boo Boo Stewart also feature in the film slated for cinemas 18th July 2014.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
