Easily the best series I grew up watching during my 1980s youth was THE EQUALIZER. There was just something majestic about the late Edward Woodward putting his retired skills to use as former operative Robert McCall in helping those in desperate need. Possibly the closest we get to see in the same spirit on American television is the Jonathan Nolan-created PERSON OF INTEREST, which I find is heavily inspired by the show which ran from 1985-89.
Well, we’ve had Denzel Washington penciled in for some time now for the big-screen reboot but a number of directors have come and gone. We can also now confirm Chloe Grace Moretz, soon to be seen in KICK-ASS 2 and Kimberly Peirce’s CARRIE remake, will portray the helpless character of the main plot. She’s reported to be not dissimilar to Jodie Foster’s tragic teen in TAXI DRIVER. Meaning the script could be a gritty one as opposed to the straight-up actioner many were expecting. Fingers crossed for some MAN ON FIRE-style mayhem on the streets of New York after she impressed during script readings with Washington
