Jason Statham’s latest HUMMINGBIRD, directed by Steven Knight, has taken on a much more generic title in the form of REDEMPTION. To accompany its name change we also have a brand new trailer and poster (which just changes the title) to show you. The film sees Statham as a homeless veteran taking on a new identity and trying to rebuild his life, but with some excellent fighting skills, the unsavoury characters of London are out to get him. The title change isn’t exactly that important, but it is a shame in that this film certainly seems slightly different to Statham’s usual action output. Perhaps it’s the gritty London locales, the emotional conflict running through Statham, or because this is Knight’s directorial debut after writing the wonderful DIRTY PRETTY THINGS and EASTERN PROMISES. Time will tell if this will give us something new, or if it will just be a darker Statham actioner.
REDEMPTION is released theatrically and via VOD on 28th June. It stars Jason Statham, Agata Buzek, Vicky McClure, Benedict Wong, Siobhan Hewlett, David Bradley, and Christian Brassington.

Luke likes many things, films and penguins being among them. He's loved films since the age of 9, when STARGATE and BATMAN FOREVER changed the landscape of modern cinema as we know it. His love of film extends to all aspects of his life, with trips abroad being planned around film locations and only buying products featured in Will Smith movies. His favourite films include SEVEN SAMURAI, PASSION OF JOAN OF ARC, IN BRUGES, LONE STAR, GODZILLA, and a thousand others.

It’s also: In fact, the movie seems to be suffering from a bit of an identity crisis, titled Hummingbird in the UK, Crazy Joe in France, and what looks to be Street Law in Romania.
Hmm.
